CREWE's unique drop-in facility for adults with learning disabilities, the Purple Onion, is hosting an Open Day on Tuesday 18 May from 10am until 8pm.
Based in Breedon House on Edleston Road, the Purple Onion was officially opened by Crewe and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson in February 2009.
Featuring a range of multi-purpose rooms that enable users to participate in a variety of activities, the Open Day will include taster sessions for music, arts & crafts, baking, willow weaving, computers and Wii Games.
Thalia Morris, Community Service Director at the Lady Verdin Trust, who funds the Purple Onion, said: "Since we opened our doors last year, the Purple Onion has proved a great success and is very popular amongst adults with learning disabilities throughout Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding area.
"The Open Day is a celebration of the past year and a thank you to the support and help of its users. Plus new visitors will have the chance to pop in and see the wide range of activities we have to offer."
As part of the Open Day, visitors can also enjoy a demonstration of the Soundbeam equipment room that uses sensor technology to translate body movement into digitally generated sound and image.
